Synnex Australia, the leading IT solutions provider for Australia and New Zealand, recently partnered with IT security company Barracuda Networks. The partnership will allow Synnex to include cybersecurity-as-a-service products in its offerings.

With the solid wake-up call of the past year’s attacks on major companies like Optus and Medibank, Australia is working tirelessly to improve its cybersecurity capabilities. The Australian government recently announced its Purple Team Australia initiative, which aims to produce around 320 skilled workers in cybersecurity.

Amelia Norris, a reporter for CRN, “Purple Team Australia aims to increase the quality and availability of job-ready cyber security professionals in Australia and attract participation from women and First Nation Australians into the cyber security industry.”

Private companies are also busily working on improving their service offerings, focusing on giving their customers more options that they can include in their cybersecurity framework. Synnex Australia recently partnered with Barracuda Networks to bring cybersecurity-as-a-service products to its managed services provider (MSP) clients.

ARN associate editor Eleanor Dickinson states, “Barracuda MSP provides security, data protection, and 24×7 security operations centre (SOC) services on a purpose-built MSP management platform. Part of Barracuda Networks, Barracuda MSP will now offer Synnex Australia partners access to a portfolio of solutions in the cloud or on-premises that allow them to build security services that include prevention, detection, and response across attack surfaces such as email, endpoint, and network.”

Jason Howells, Barracuda MSP International sales vice president, noted that their products are designed to provide added value to their clients, allowing them to offer their customers advanced protection against IT breaches and data loss. He added that MSPs should capitalise on their product offerings and turn to fully managed IT security services to minimise the likelihood of suffering the same fate as Optus and Medibank.

Synnex Australia’s business manager Edmond Ng added that their cybersecurity-as-a-service offering might allow MSPs to build new strategic revenue streams for their businesses.
